1973 Miller's Services is founded

After Mr. James “Lee” Miller retired from the Naval Weapons Station, he and his wife, Mrs. Mary M. Miller, established the company that would service their friends and neighbors and would provide for their family.

1996 Jim Miller Speaks at Septic Systems Workshop

A sponsored workshop is held at Page Middle School, where the Gloucester County Health Department, the Department of Environmental Quality, and Jim Miller speak about various septic topics.

1998 Jamie Joins The Business Full Time

Jamie Miller steps into the family business to be sure his grandmother doesn’t have to run the business on her own. Jamie drives the pump trucks with his newly acquired commercial driver’s license.

Miller's Services primarily pumps septic tanks and performs basic drain cleanings.

2001 $100,000 in Business

In the last year, Mary “Udell” Miller has owned the business, and she has brought in $100,000 in business!

January 1, 2002 Change In Ownership

The company was purchased by Jim Miller and his son Jamie Miller in 2002.

At this time, Jim serves as President, Mrs. Sallie Miller (wife of Jim) as secretary and treasurer, and Jamie as Vice President.

Miller's Services is immediately renamed to Miller's Services

2004 Acquisition Expands Services

Miller's Services acquired Tom’s Septic, Bay Sanitation, and B&B Septic in 2004.

This newspaper advertisement is featured in the Southside Sentinel in June 2006.

2004 Expansion of Services

Jamie becomes a Master Plumber & expands the company’s services to offer plumbing.

May 21, 2007 Miller's Services Receives Gold Award

The Hampton Roads Sanitation District honors Miller's Services with a Gold Award (Perfect Permit Compliance). Miller's Services and other awardees pretreat their industrial wastewater before discharging it, which protects waterways.

2007 Ashley Miller Joins the Family Business

Ashley Miller, granddaughter of founder Lee Miller, joined as General Manager in 2007.

2010 In Good Weather & Bad

Mrs. Sallie Miller is quoted in a Daily Press article. The article notes an increase in high tides as well as an unusually wet summer and fall. This causes issues for aging septic systems. Rainfall in 2010 totaled 60 inches compared to the average of 45 inches in many local areas. Many septic companies notice an increase in calls for septic services.

2019 Apprenticeship Program Launches

Miller's Services launches its four-year Registered Apprenticeship program in partnership with New Horizons, which offers classes and on-the-job training for three of its five trades.

2019 Over 15,000 Customers Served & Growing!

2019 Miller's Services Expands Again!

2019 brings the addition of heating & cooling services to Miller's Services repertoire!

The company now offers customers a Total Care Club Membership Program for Whole Home Maintenance.

Miller's Services Organization & Development Coordinator discusses the vast opportunities in the trades industries. The formal apprenticeship program allows employees to earn and learn at the same time!

Miller's Services Is Featured In The Virginian-Pilot

To qualify for the apprenticeship program, employees must work for Miller's Services’s for six months. They also must commit to working for the company for every year they participate in the program.
